A hydrocarbon sensor excellent in yield and high in detection accuracy, comprising a solid electrolytic layer (1) consisting of a barium-cerium oxide, a cathode (2) and an anode (3) as a pair of electrodes provided on the layer (1), a ceramic substrate (4) having a thermal expansion coefficient almost equivalent to that of the layer (1) and a heater (7) provided on the substrate (4), the layer (1) and the substrate (4) being joined together.

Un détecteur d'hydrocarbure présentant un excellent rendement et une haute précision de détection comprend une couche électrolytique solide (1) constituée d'un oxyde de barium-cérium, une cathode (2) ainsi qu'une anode (3) en tant que paire d'électrodes située sur la couche (1), un substrat en céramique (4) présentant un coefficient de dilatation thermique à peu près équivalent à celui de la couche (1) et une unité de chauffage (7) disposée sur le substrat (4), la couche (1) et le substrat (4) étant joints l'un à l'autre.
