The invention provides an improved propellant system for firing projectiles (12) in large caliber guns. Strips (50, 51, 52, 53) of energetic propellant are placed in the cartridge case (11) so that the lengths of the strips are parallel to the length of the cartridge. Preferably, the strips are placed in a radially symmetric pattern. The strips provide passageways that allow ignition gases to flow radially in the cartridge case and along the length of the cartridge case.

L'invention concerne un système de charge propulsive amélioré, permettant la mise à feu de projectiles dans des fusils gros calibre. Des bandes de charge propulsive énergétique sont placées dans la douille d'une cartouche, de sorte que les longueurs des bandes sont parallèles à la longueur de la cartouche. Ces bandes sont, de préférence, placées selon un motif radialement symétrique. Elles constituent des passages qui permettent la mise à feu des gaz, afin qu'ils s'écoulent radialement dans la douille de la cartouche, et sur toute la longueur de ladite douille.
