A selectively controllable valve (106) is arranged in a refrigeration circuit which interconnects the evaporator (102) and the condenser (100) and is controlled so that a pressure differential is built up across the valve (106). The valve (106) is selectively opened to allow 'batches' of working fluid to pass therethrough. In some embodiments, the working fluid which is allowed to pass through the valve (106), is heated in a chamber (116) to increase the amount of pressure on the downstream side of the valve (106). This produces expanded pressurized working fluid which increases the pressure in the condenser (100) and forces previously condensed and liquefied working fluid through a flow restricting transfer device (104) into an evaporator (102). In other embodiments, the pressure differential is produced and/or augmented by a pump (102) such as a piston pump, or a combination of the pump (102) and the heating chamber (116).

Selon cette invention, un robinet à commande sélective (106) est disposé dans un circuit de réfrigération reliant entre eux l'évaporateur (102) et le condensateur (100) et commandé de manière à ce qu'un différentiel de pression se crée dans le robinet (106). Le robinet (106) s'ouvre de manière sélective pour permettre aux 'paquets' de liquide de travail de le traverser. Dans certains modes de réalisation, le liquide de travail auquel on permet de traverser le robinet (106) est chauffé dans une chambre (116), et ce afin d'augmenter la pression en aval du robinet (106). Cela a pour effet de produire du liquide de travail dilaté sous pression qui augmente la pression dans le condensateur (100) et fait passer le liquide de travail préalablement condensé et liquéfié dans l'évaporateur (102), à travers un dispositif de transfert à restriction de flux (104). Dans d'autres modes de réalisation, le différentiel de pression est créé et/ou augmenté par une pompe (102) telle qu'une pompe à piston ou une combinaison de la pompe (102) et de la chambre de chauffage (116).
