Preactivated unsupported catalysts are prepared by contacting an unsupported olefin polymerization catalyst precursor with an activator, or co-catalyst in a suitable reaction medium and then contacting the mixture with additional solvent to form a preactivated unsupported olefin polymerization catalyst composition. The preactivated unsupported olefin polymerization catalyst composition is useful in a method of polymerizing an olefin monomer by adding it, in solution or slurry, to a gas phase polymerization reactor together with one or more olefins to form a polymer, copolymer, terpolymer, or the like. The use of the preactivated unsupported olefin polymerization catalysts compositions does not plug the catalyst injection nozzle or feed tube when feeding the solution to the gas phase reactor.

On prépare des catalyseurs non supportés pré-activés en mettant en contact un précurseur de catalyseur de polymérisation d'oléfines avec un activateur ou un co-catalyseur dans un milieu de réaction approprié, puis en mettant en contact le mélange obtenu avec un solvant supplémentaire pour former une composition de catalyseur de polymérisation d'oléfines non supporté pré-activé. La composition de catalyseur de polymérisation d'oléfines non supporté pré-activé s'utilise dans un procédé de polymérisation d'un monomère d'oléfines, le procédé consistant à l'ajouter, sous forme de solution ou de pâte, dans un réacteur de polymérisation en phase gazeuse, à une ou plusieurs oléfines pour former un polymère, un copolymère, un terpolymère ou analogues. L'utilisation des catalyseurs de polymérisation d'oléfines non supportés pré-activés empêche le colmatage de la buse ou de la trémie d'injection de catalyseur lors de l'introduction de la solution dans le réacteur en phase gazeuse.
