Abstract

A bileaflet heart valve prosthesis (10) includes an orifice body or housing (12) defining an orifice or opening (14) for the passage of blood therethrough. First and second leaflets or occluders (16, 22) are disposed in the orifice (14) and pivotally attached to the orifice body (12). The first and second occluders (16, 22) pivot about axes (28, 30) between an open position and a closed position, and the axes (28, 30) are non-parallel. The orifice (14) is substantially open when the first and second occluders (16, 22) are in their open positions and substantially closed when the occluders (16, 22) are in their closed position. The bileaflet heart valve (10) may be either a central opening valve, or a side opening valve.

La présente invention concerne une prothèse de valvule cardiaque à double valve (10) comprenant un corps à orifice, ou une cavité, (12) formant un orifice ou une ouverture (14) conçue pour le passage du sang. Les première et seconde valves, ou éléments d'occlusions, (16, 22) sont placées dans l'orifice (14) et fixées pivotantes au corps à orifice (12). Les premier et second élément d'occlusion (16, 22) pivotent autour des axes non parallèles (28, 30) entre une position ouverte et une position fermée. Par ailleurs, l'orifice (14) est pratiquement ouvert lorsque les premier et second éléments d'occlusion (16, 22) sont en position ouverte, et pratiquement fermé lorsque ces éléments d'occlusion (16, 22) sont en position fermée. En outre, on peut utiliser cette valvule cardiaque à double valve (10) soit comme valvule à ouverture centrale, soit comme valvule à ouverture latérale.
