Abstract

The present invention pertains to medical techniques and may be used in heart surgery for replacing damaged heart valves in a patient. This heart valve prosthesis comprises an annular body with two ledges as well as a closure member in the form of two or three flaps which are mounted through bearings into recesses of the body so as to be capable of rotation. The body has a constant height on a major portion of the ring periphery and further includes protrusions in an amount equal to that of the flaps, wherein said protrusions are provided with flap rotation limiters. In a preferred embodiment, the protrusions are W-shaped and their inner surface, on the side of the blood direct flow, is inclined towards the central axis of the body. The flaps have ascending and descending surfaces which are respectively oriented towards the blood direct and reverse flows, and further include a side edge as well as an edge for contact with an adjacent shutter. The descending surface of each flap is flat, while the ascending surface exhibits a concave and spherical profile. Each flap has its minimal thickness located at the symmetry axis at the level of the contact edge.

Cette invention se rapporte au domaine des techniques médicales et peut être utilisée en chirurgie cardiaque afin de remplacer des valvules du coeur endommagées chez un patient. Cette prothèse de valvule du coeur comprend un corps annulaire avec deux rebords, ainsi qu'un élément de fermeture se composant de deux ou trois volets qui sont montés par l'intermédiaire de paliers dans des renfoncements du corps de manière à pouvoir entrer en rotation. Le corps possède une hauteur constante sur la majeure partie de la périphérie de l'anneau, et comprend des protubérances dont le nombre est égal à celui des volets. Ces protubérances comportent des limiteurs de rotation des volets. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, les protubérances sont en forme de W, tandis que leur surface interne, du côté du flux direct de sang, est inclinée vers l'axe central du corps. Les volets possèdent des surfaces montantes et descendantes qui sont orientées respectivement vers les flux de sang direct et inverse, et comportent également un bord latéral ainsi qu'un bord de contact avec un volet adjacent. La surface descendante de chaque volet est plane, tandis que la surface montante présente un profil concave et sphérique. L'épaisseur minimale de chaque volet se situe à l'axe de symétrie au niveau du bord de contact.
