Axial intramedullary screw (AIMS) for the operative treatment of fractures of long bones in human bone surgery (orthopaedic and traumatology) and veterinary surgery (for large and small animals), characterised by the feature that the osteosynthetic effect of stabilisation is created by the thread of the AIMS cutting into the internal cortical tubular part of the diaphysis of long bones in their axial direction. Application is simplified because of the two - wayness - it possesses two self-tapping tips on both sides and two screwdriver connections on them (3). It may be applied in a single type or in an interlocking type of AIMS for complex multi fragmented fractures. Transverse screws may approach central AIMS with different angles, they may be one-sided, two-sided, with cylindrical conical or threaded for compressive connection or combined (12, 13). AIMS is produced of stainless steel, titanium or resorptive osteosynthetic materials.

Une vis centromédullaire axiale (VCA) utilisée pour le traitement chirurgical des fractures des os longs en chirurgie osseuse chez l'homme (orthopédique et traumatologique) et en chirurgie vétérinaire (pour animaux de grande et de petite tailles) se caractérise par le fait que l'effet d'ostéosynthèse de stabilisation est crée par le filet de la VCA qui coupe la partie tubulaire corticale interne de la diaphyse des os longs dans leur direction axiale. L'application est simplifiée du fait de la bidirectionnalité, la vis comportant deux extrémités auto-taraudeuses des deux côtés et deux connexions pour tournevis situées sur ces dernières (3). Elle peut se présenter sous forme d'une vis centromédullaire axiale de type simple ou de type composé utilisée pour des fractures complexes à fragments multiples. Des vis transversales peuvent s'approcher de la VCA centrale avec des angles différents, et peuvent être avoir un seul côté, deux côtés, une partie conique, cylindrique ou filetée pour assurer la connexion par compression ou une partie mixte (12, 13). Ladite vis centromédullaire axiale est réalisée en acier inoxydable, en titane ou dans des matériaux d'ostéosynthèse de résorption osseuse.
