An apparatus (100) for transmitting information comprises a bitstream source (110) for providing a bitstream representing the information, a redundancy adding encoder (120) for generating an encoded bitstream, which is arranged to output, for a first number of input bits and a second number of output bits. The apparatus (100) further comprises means (130) for partitioning the second number of output bits into the two portions of output bits and means (140) for transmitting the output bits of the first portion via a first channel (300) and the output bits of the second portion via second channel (400) being spatially different from the first channel (300). An inventive receiving apparatus (200) combines (230) the signals received via the first and second channels (300, 400) and uses both channel signals for channel decoding (220) by removing redundancy.

Cet appareil (100) permettant d'émettre des informations comporte une source de flux binaire (110) produisant un flux binaire représentatif des informations, un codeur d'adjonction de redondance (120) produisant un flux binaire codé, conçu pour sortir un premier volume de bits en entrée et un second volume de bits en sortie. Cet appareil (100) comporte, en outre, un mécanisme de partitionnement (130) partitionnant le second volume de bits en sortie en deux parties ainsi qu'un mécanisme (140) transmettant les bits en sortie de la première partie sur un premier canal (300) et les bits en sortie de la seconde partie sur un second canal (400) distinct du premier (300) sur le plan spatial. L'appareil de réception (200) selon l'invention combine (230) les signaux reçus sur le premier et le second canal (300, 400) et utilise les signaux des deux canaux pour un décodage de canal (220) par suppression de la redondance.
