A combustion chamber arrangement for two-cycle or four-cycle internal combustion engines, where the traditional piston is replaced by a reciprocating disk that, together with the cylinder wall, creates two sealed combustion chambers for separate combustion cycles. In each combustion chamber a traditional combustion cycle takes place, such that two complete combustion cycles occur within overlapping cylinder volumes. In a four-stroke version, the cylinder produces power on two out of every four strokes. In a two-stroke version, the cylinder produces power on every stroke. The reciprocating disk is connected to two rods that extend through the ends of the cylinder. A power transmission rod transfers combustion power to a standard crankshaft, or through gears to a drive shaft, and a balance rod balances the pressure area on the two sides of the reciprocating disk. A special bushing seal configuration inhibits leakage at the end of the cylinders about the rods, and in some cases the power transmission rods of multiple cylinders are coupled to a common connecting rod by a power transmission bridge spanning the cylinders.

La présente invention concerne un agencement de chambre de combustion pour moteurs deux temps et quatre temps à combustion interne, où le piston classique est remplacé par un disque montant et descendant qui, avec la paroi du cylindre, crée deux chambres de combustion étanches pour des temps de combustion différents. Dans chaque chambre de combustion un temps de combustion classique à lieu, de sorte que deux temps complets se déroulent dans le chevauchement des volumes du cylindre. Dans une version quatre temps classique, le cylindre délivre la puissance sur deux des quatre temps. Dans une version deux temps, le cylindre délivre la puissance à chaque temps. Ledit disque montant et descendant est connecté à deux tiges qui se prolongent au travers des extrémités du cylindre. Une tige de transmission de puissance transfère la puissance de la combustion à un vilebrequin classique, ou par des réducteurs à un arbre de transmission, et une tige d'équilibre équilibre la zone de pression des deux cotés du disque montant et descendant. Une configuration spéciale de bague joint empêche les fuites à l'extrémité des cylindres au niveau des tiges, et dans certains cas, les tiges de transmission de puissance de cylindres multiples sont couplées à une bielle commune par un pont de transmission de puissance reliant les cylindres.
