A light transmitting plate, characterized in that it is produced by a method comprising melt molding a thermoplastic resin having a melt flow rate of 50 g/10 min or more under a load of 2.16 kgf at 280 °C. The thermoplastic resin is preferably a resin containing an alicyclic structure, more preferably a norbornene-based polymer. Low viscosity and good melt fluidity of such a resin allows the plastization and flowing of the resin also at a low temperature, and permit the precise transcription of a groove of a fine pattern to the reflecting surface side of a light transmitting plate, and further may result in a short residence time of the resin in a molten state, which in turn leads to the reduction of the occurrence of voids, burn marks or discoloration. The above light transmitting plate can provide a thin-walled (the thickness of the surface for incidence is 5 mm or less), large screen size (10 inches or more) light transmitting plate having good appearance and reduced irregularity in luminance.

L'invention concerne une plaque de transmission de lumière produite selon un procédé qui consiste à fondre une résine thermoplastique présentant un indice de fluidité d'au moins 50 g/10 min. sous une charge de 2,16 kgf à 280 °C. De préférence, ladite résine thermoplastique contient une structure alicyclique, idéalement un polymère à base de norborène. La viscosité réduite et la bonne fluidité de ladite résine permettent sa plastification et son écoulement également à basse température, ainsi que la transcription précise d'un sillon d'un motif fin sur la surface réfléchissante d'une plaque de transmission de lumière. Par ailleurs, en raison de cette viscosité réduite et de cette bonne fluidité, ladite résine peut rester à l'état fondu pendant une brève durée, ce qui réduit le risque de formation de vides, de marques de brûlures ou de décoloration. La plaque de transmission de lumière mentionnée ci-dessus peut former une plaque de transmission de lumière à écran large (10 pouces ou plus) et à parois minces (l'épaisseur de la surface d'incidence ne dépasse pas 5mm) présentant un bon aspect et une irrégularité de luminance réduite.
