Abstract

Methods of obtaining a solution of calcium ions from lime (e.g. carbide lime) are disclosed. In one aspect the method comprises (i) treating the lime with an aqueous solution of a polyhydroxy compound (preferably sorbitol) having three or more hydroxy groups and a straight chain of 3 to 8 carbon atoms; and (ii) optionally separating insoluble impurities from the solution resulting from (i). In another aspect the method comprises (iii) treating carbide lime with an aqueous solution of a polyhydroxy compound (e.g. sorbitol or sucrose) to extract calcium from the carbide lime; and (iv) separating insoluble impurities from the solution resulting from (i). The solutions obtained may be treated with precipitating agent to obtain a solid calcium containing product. The product may be calcium carbonate obtained by treating the solution with carbon dioxide as the precipitating agent.

La présente invention concerne des procédés permettant d'obtenir une solution d'ions calcium à partir de la chaux, par exemple la chaux de carbure. Selon un aspect, le procédé consiste (i) à traiter la chaux au moyen d'une solution aqueuse d'un composé polyhydroxy (de préférence le sorbitol) portant au moins trois groupes hydroxy et une chaîne droite de 3 à 8 atomes de carbone; et (ii) éventuellement à séparer les impuretés insolubles de la solution résultant du (i). Selon un autre aspect, le procédé consiste (iii) à traiter la chaux de carbure au moyen d'une solution aqueuse d'un composé polyhydroxy (de préférence le sorbitol ou le sucrose) de façon à extraire le calcium de la chaux de carbure; et (iv) éventuellement à séparer les impuretés insolubles de la solution résultant du (iii). La solution obtenue peut se traiter au moyen d'un agent de précipitation de façon à obtenir un produit solide contenant du calcium. Ce produit peut être du carbonate de calcium obtenu par traitement de la solution en utilisant comme agent de précipitation du dioxyde de carbone.
