Abstract
(EN) A method of sealing a gap between body panels in a motor vehicle body is described in preparation for repainting the panels. The method involves sealing the gap between a first static part and a second moveable part, e.g. between a door post and door. The method comprises attaching a conformable elongate sealing member (1) to the static part (2) by an adhesive track (4) so that a first face (12) of the member is aligned with an adjacent body panel (13), and closing said second part onto the member to compress the member and seal the gap, said member comprising an open-celled plastic foam and having a second face (16) at right angles to the first face, the second face bearing an adhesive track (4) by which the member is attached to the static part and which track is spaced from said first face. The invention includes a sealing member for sealing a gap between panels of a motor vehicle, said member comprising an elongate, conformable, open-celled, plastics foam having a cross-sectional shape which is substantially rectangular and has an ahdesive track extending lengthwise of the foam member along one face, the track being spaced from both opposite edges of the face. The conformable elongate sealing member is attached to the static part by an adhesive track so that a first face of the member is alinged with an adjacent body panel, and closing said second part onto the member to compress the member and seal the gap, said member comprising an open-celled plastic foam and having a second face at right angles to the first face, the second face bearing an adhesive track by which the member is attached to the static part and which track is spaced from said first face.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé permettant d'obturer un espace situé entre des panneaux de carrosserie d'automobile, afin de les préparer pour les repeindre. Ce procédé consiste à obturer l'espace situé entre une première partie statique et une seconde partie mobile, par exemple entre une porte et un montant de porte. Ledit procédé consiste à fixer un élément d'obturation (1) allongé conformable à la partie statique (2) à l'aide d'une couche adhésive (4), de sorte qu'une première face (12) dudit élément est alignée avec un panneau de carrosserie (13) adjacent, à refermer la seconde partie sur l'élément de façon à le comprimer, et à obturer l'espace. Cet élément comprend une mousse en plastique à alvéoles ouverts, et possède une seconde face (16) formant un angle droit avec la première face, cette seconde face portant une couche adhésive (4) qui permet de fixer l'élément à la partie statique, ladite couche étant éloignée de la première face. L'invention concerne également un élément d'obturation permettant d'obturer un espace situé entre des panneaux de carrosserie d'automobile, ledit élément comprenant une mousse en plastique à alvéoles ouverts, conformable, allongée, dont la coupe transversale est sensiblement rectangulaire, et possédant une couche adhésive qui s'étend sur la longueur d'une face de l'élément en mousse, ladite couche étant éloignée des deux bords opposés de la face. L'élément d'obturation allongé conformable est fixé à la partie statique à l'aide d'une couche adhésive, de sorte qu'une première face dudit élément est alignée avec un panneau de carrosserie adjacent, la seconde partie se refermant sur ledit élément de façon à le comprimer, et à obturer l'espace. Cet élément comprend une mousse en plastique à alvéoles ouverts, et possède une seconde face formant un angle droit avec la première face, ladite seconde face portant une couche adhésive qui fixe l'élément sur la partie statique, ladite couche adhésive étant éloignée de la première face.
