(EN)A coating composition for forming a water-resistant coating on fiber-reinforced articles such as rods or cables. The composition comprises an aqueous solution of a superabsorbent water-soluble polymer, a viscosity modifying agent, and optionally a lubricant. The coating formed by applying the composition effectively prevents the treated surface from water-permeation damage by absorbing water that contacts the layer containing the superabsorbent component.
(FR)Composition de revêtement destinée à former un revêtement résistant à l'eau sur des articles renforcés par des fibres tels que des tiges ou des câbles. La composition comprend une solution aqueuse d'un polymère hydrosoluble superabsorbant, d'un agent modifiant la viscosité et facultativement d'un lubrifiant. Le revêtement formé par application de la composition empêche efficacement une détérioration de la surface traitée par perméation d'eau, par absorption de l'eau venant au contact de la couche contenant le constituant superabsorbant.
