The present invention provides a method for positioning GSM mobile stations. Positioning information for a Mobile Station (102) is requested by a Base Station Subsystem (117) from Location Determination Equipment (113). The location Determination Equipment (113) return signal measurements relating to the Mobile Station (102) to the Base Station Subsystem (117). The Base Station Subsystem (117) requests a location calculation from a Mobile Positioning Register (111). The Mobile Positioning Register (111) computes the position of the mobile station (102) based at least in part upon the signal measurements. The position of the Mobile Station (102) is then returned to the Base Station Subsystem (117).

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de positionner des stations mobiles GSM. Des informations de positionnement d'une station mobile (102) sont demandées par le sous-système (117) d'une station base à partir d'un équipement de détermination d'emplacement (113). Ledit équipement (113) renvoie, au sous-système (117) de la station base, des mesures de signal se rapportant à la station mobile (102). Ledit sous-système (117) demande que l'on calcule l'emplacement à partir d'un registre (111)de positionnement mobile. Ledit registre (111) calcule la position de la station mobile (102) sur la base, du moins en partie, des mesures de signal. La position de la station mobile (102) est ensuite renvoyée au sous-système (117) de la station base.
