(EN)A prokaryotic vector derived from the large virulence plasmid of $i(Shigella flexneri), has been manipulated to delete a previously unidentified 'inhibitor region' resulting in a vector that demonstrates improved maintenance and stability in a transformed host cell, without the need for exogenous selective materials in the media. This plasmid is useful in research and industrial applications.
