(EN)In a method of reducing the cathodic overvoltage of an electrolytic cell, which contains a cathode compartment, a cathode and a catholyte solution situated within said cathode compartment, an anode compartment, an anode and an anolyte solution situated within said anode compartment and a permeable barrier between said cathode compartment and anode compartment, the residue of a heat-treated noble metal catalyst is introduced into the catholyte solution.
