An apparatus and method for moving an object on a touchscreen display of a portable intelligent communications device or a separate computer is disclosed as including the steps of touching first and second areas on the display screen associated with the object to select the object, and identifying a new location for the object on the display screen. The object is selected when the first and second areas are touched within a predetermined time period, and moved to the new location when the location is identified on the screen within an additional predetermined time period. In touching the areas associated with an object to select the object, the screen is contacted at first and second points within a selection range about the object. From these points, the touches move in unison towards the center of the object, terminating at a point abutting or inside the periphery of the object. The first and second touches may be on opposite sides of the object and accomplished using a thumb and finger.

L'invention concerne un dispositif et un procédé permettant de déplacer des objets sur un visuel à écran tactile d'appareil portatif de communication intelligent ou d'ordinateur distinct. On touche sur l'écran des première et seconde zones associées à l'objet de manière à sélectionner l'objet, puis on identifie un nouvel emplacement sur l'écran. L'objet est sélectionné lorsque lesdites zones sont touchées dans un laps de temps préétabli, puis il est déplacé vers le nouvel emplacement lorsque celui-ci est identifié sur l'écran dans un laps de temps supplémentaire préétabli. Pour toucher les zones considérées en vue de sélectionner l'objet, on entre en contact avec des premier et second points à l'intérieur d'une gamme de sélection autour de l'objet. Depuis ces points, les contacts se déplacent à l'unisson vers le centre de l'objet, aboutissant en un endroit situé contre la périphérie de l'objet ou à l'intérieur de cette périphérie. Les premier et second contacts peuvent être effectués sur des côtés opposés de l'objet, par le biais du pouce ou de l'index.
