A diffusive sampling device (1) for monitoring organic vapours in ambient air, of the type with desorption of the sampled species by solvent extraction, comprising a container (2) made of a chemically inert, substantially gas- and liquid-impervious material, having a closed bottom end and an open end opposed thereto and containing, at its bottom end, a layer of solid porous material (4) capable of uptaking the chemical substances to be sampled by physical or chemical adsorption, and a gas- and liquid-tight closure element (3) which may be coupled to the open end of the container (2), having an exposed portion closed by a pierceable membrane (10) suitable to allow the introduction of a hollow needle for the injection of a solvent and the withdrawal of the resulting solution. The device is particularly suitable for sampling organic vapours both in indoor and in outdoor environments, in urban, rural or industrial areas, and may be employed for the medium- and long-term evaluation of the atmospheric concentrations of pollutants.

L'invention concerne un dispositif d'échantillonnage diffusif (1) permettant de contrôler les vapeurs organiques présentes dans l'air ambiant, ce dispositif étant du type à désorption des espèces échantillonnées par extraction par solvant. Ce dispositif, qui comprend un réservoir (2) fabriqué dans une matière chimiquement inerte et sensiblement imperméable aux gaz et aux liquides, présente également un fond fermé et une extrémité opposée ouverte de manière à pouvoir contenir, sur son fond, une couche d'une matière poreuse solide (4), capable de retenir par adsorption physique ou chimique les substances chimiques destinées à être échantillonnées. Ce récipient est en outre pourvu d'un élément de fermeture (3) étanche aux gaz et aux liquides, cet élément pouvant être couplé à l'extrémité ouverte dudit récipient (2) et présentant une partie exposée fermée par une membrane perforable (10), laquelle permet l'introduction d'une aiguille creuse destinée à injecter un solvant, la solution ainsi obtenue étant ensuite retirée du récipient. Ce dispositif, particulièrement apte à être utilisé pour échantillonner des vapeurs organiques, que ce soit dans un environnement intérieur ou extérieur ou dans des zones urbaines, rurales, ou industrielles, peut par ailleurs être employé pour faire une évaluation à long ou moyen terme des concentrations de polluants dans l'atmosphère.
