Abstract

The invention concerns a method for estimating motion between two digital images, I1 and I2, with brightness Y1 and Y2, for generating, for each point of co-ordinates x,y of image I2 a motion vector d(x,y)=(dx,dy) so as to form an image Î2 from image I1with brightness Ŷ2(x,y)=Y1(x-dx,y-dy) which is an approximation of image I2. Said method consists in using of a model of finite elements and a differential method for determining the motion field of image I2. The invention is characterised in that the mesh associated with the model of finite elements is refined as the motion estimation is being carried out.

La présente invention concerne un procédé d'estimation du mouvement entre deux images numériques, I1 et I2, de luminance Y1 et Y2, destiné à générer, pour chaque point de coordonnées x,y de l'image I2 un vecteur déplacement d(x,y)=(dx,dy) de manière à former une image Î2 à partir de l'image I1, de luminance Ŷ2(x,y)=Y1(x-dx,y-dy), qui soit une approximation de l'image I2. Ce procédé prévoit l'utilisation d'un modèle d'éléments finis et une méthode différentielle pour déterminer le champ de mouvement de l'image I2. Selon l'invention, le maillage se rapportant au modèle d'éléments finis est affiné au fur et à mesure de l'estimation de mouvement.
