An organic electroluminescence device having a low driving voltage and a long life and a material having a small ionization potential and providing a large hole mobility when used as a layer or region are disclosed. The organic electroluminescence device is characterized in that the device comprises a pair of electrodes and an organic luminescent layer sandwiched between the electrodes, a hole transport region between the electrodes contains a phenylenediamine derivative expressed by a specific structural formula and having a hole mobility of 10-1 cm2/V•s or more when used as a material of a layer or region, and the organic luminescent layer contains a charge injection assisting material.

L'invention concerne un dispositif électroluminescent à faible tension de commande et longue durée de vie, comprenant un matériau à faible potentiel d'ionisation et mobilité de trous élevée en cas d'utilisation comme couche ou zone de transport de trous. Le dispositif considéré comporte une paire d'électrodes et une couche organique luminescente prise en sandwich entre les deux électrodes. Une zone de transport de trous comprise entre les électrodes contient un dérivé de phénylènediamine défini par une formule structurelle spécifique et présentant une mobilité de trous égale ou supérieure à 10-1 cm2/V•s lorsque le matériau est utilisé comme couche ou zone de transport de trous. Par ailleurs, la couche luminescente renferme un matériau favorisant l'injection.
