A process for producing ethylene and propylene from a hydrocarbon feed material through catalytic conversion which comprises: contacting in a reactor a hydrocarbon feed material comprising at least 20 wt.% at least one C4-12 olefin with a catalyst comprising a zeolite (1) having medium pores with a diameter of 5 to 6.5 Å, (2) containing substantially no proton, (3) containing at least one metal selected from the group consisting of metals belonging to the Group 1B of the Periodic Table, and (4) having an SiO2/Al2O3 molar ratio of from 200 to 5,000 to catalytically convert the hydrocarbon feed material to compounds including ethylene and propylene; and separating the ethylene and propylene from the reaction mixture. The zeolite catalyst has high resistance to deterioration. Ethylene and propylene can hence be produced stably over long in high yield.

Procédé de production d'éthylène et de propylène à partir d'un matériau formé d'une charge d'hydrocarbure, par transformation catalytique, caractérisé en ce qu'on met en contact, dans un réacteur, un matériau formant la charge d'hydrocarbure renfermant au moins 20 % en poids d'au moins une oléfine en C4-12, avec un catalyseur comprenant une zéolite (1) présentant des pores moyens de diamètre 5 à 6,5 Å, (2) ne contenant sensiblement pas de protons, (3) contenant au moins un métal choisi dans le groupe comprenant des métaux appartenant au groupe 1B de la Classification Périodique, et (4) ayant un rapport molaire SiO2/Al2O3 compris entre 200 et 5000, en vue de réaliser la transformation catalytique de la charge d'hydrocarbure en composés comprenant de l'éthylène et du propylène, et en ce qu'on sépare l'éthylène et le propylène du mélange réactionnel. Le catalyseur à la zéolite présente une haute résistance à la détérioration, de sorte que l'éthylène et le propylène peuvent être produits sur de longues périodes avec des rendements élevés.
