Abstract:
(EN) Optical characteristics of optical systems, such as the eye (14), are measured including vision defects of the eye using a collimated beam (12) from a diode laser (66) focused onto the anterior surface (22) of the cornea (24) of the eye for providing a finite source (16) of secondary radiation on the retina (18) of the eye, the image of which is close to a desired diffraction limited spot. The secondary radiation is reflected back from the retina (18) as a reflected wavefront of radiation that passes through the eye and is directed onto a wavefront analyzer (42) where distortions associated with the reflected wavefront are measured. By focusing on the cornea (24) through a long focal length lens (70) and thus converging the beam through a small angle (13), as opposed to typically focusing a collimated light onto the retina (18), the need for lenses or lens combinations, and the time required to adjust such to accommodate the differing vision of each patient is eliminated.
(FR) On mesure les caractéristiques optiques de systèmes optiques comme l'oeil (14), notamment les défauts de vision de celui-ci, à l'aide d'un faisceau collimaté (12) émanant d'un laser à diode (66) focalisé sur la surface antérieure (22) de la cornée (24) pour fournir une source finie (16) de rayonnement secondaire sur la rétine (18) dont l'image est proche d'un point limité de diffraction désirée. Le rayonnement secondaire, qui est renvoyé par la rétine (18) comme un front d'onde réfléchi de rayonnement traversant l'oeil, est dirigé sur un analyseur de front d'onde (42) où sont analysées les distorsions associées au front d'onde réfléchi. Dans la mesure où la focalisation se fait sur la cornée (24) au moyen d'une lentille à longue distance focale (70) et où l'on fait converger le faisceau sous un petit angle (13), par opposition à la focalisation classique d'une lumière collimatée sur la rétine (18), il n'est plus nécessaire de recourir à des lentilles ou à des combinaisons de lentilles de même qu'est supprimé le délai exigé pour régler celles-ci afin de s'adapter à des capacités visuelles différentes selon les patients.
