A system and method for handling laboratory information includes a graphical user interface with a plurality of windows. A palette of icons is provided in a first one of the windows, each icon representing a predetermined task to be executed by a processor in communication with the graphical user interface. The processor is also in communication with a database containing static laboratory data (such as the type of sample to be analysed) as well as dynamic laboratory data (such as the name of the specific sample to be tested and the results of that test). A user can select icons from the first window and 'drag and drop' them into a second window. A sequence of tasks may thus be built up, in the form of a tree structure, and when run the processor executes the sequence of tasks in turn by reference to the static and dynamic laboratory data.

L'invention concerne un système et un procédé de traitement des données de laboratoire, lequel système comprend une interface utilisateur graphique à plusieurs fenêtres. Une première fenêtre comporte une palette d'icônes, chaque icône représentant une tâche prédéterminée destinée à être exécutée par un processeur en communication avec l'interface graphique utilisateur. Le processeur est également en communication avec une base de données renfermant des données de laboratoire statiques (telles que le type d'échantillon à analyser) ainsi que des données de laboratoire dynamiques (telles que le nom de l'échantillon spécifique à analyser, et les résultats de ce test). Un utilisateur peut sélectionner des icônes dans la première fenêtre et les 'tirer-lâcher' dans une deuxième fenêtre. Ainsi, il est possible d'établir une séquence de tâches, sous forme d'une structure arborescente, et le processeur, lorsqu'il est activé, exécute la séquence de tâches en utilisant tour à tour les données de laboratoire statiques et les données de laboratoire dynamiques.
