Abstract
(EN) An echo-ranging boundary system (5) is provided for controlling the access of animals (20) to predefined areas (30). An electronic transponder collar (25) is affixed to an animal (20) for exclusion from a predefined area (30). An ultrasonic beacon (10), defining a transmission reference point, periodically transmits a directional ultrasonic interrogation signal for determining the location of animals (20) provided with transponder collars (25). The transponder collar (25) emits an ultrasonic reply signal, detected by the station after a period of time defined by the propagation delay of the ultrasonic reply signal. The propagation delay of the reply signal is directly proportional to the distance between the transponder (25) and the interrogation signal reference point. A timing threshold is set at the transmission station corresponding to a desired control distance. Reply signals returned from a device time-out are compared to the timing threshold. If the elapsed time of the propagated reply signal is less than the user selected threshold a correction pulse is transmitted to the animal transponder collar (25).
(FR) L'invention concerne un système frontière de repérage par écho (5) servant à contrôler l'accès d'animaux (20) à des zones préétablies (30). Un collier transpondeur électronique (25) est attaché à un animal (20) pour l'exclure d'une zone préétablie (30). Une balise ultrasonore (10) délimitant un point de référence de transmission transmet périodiquement un signal d'interrogation directionnel ultrasonore pour déterminer l'emplacement d'animaux (20) équipés du collier transpondeur (25). Le collier transpondeur (25) émet un signal de réponse ultrasonore que le poste de transmission détecte après un laps de temps déterminé en fonction du temps de propagation du signal de réponse ultrasonore. Le temps de propagation du signal de réponse ultrasonore est directement proportionnel à la distance entre le transpondeur (25) et le point de référence du signal d'interrogation. Un seuil d'attente est fixé au niveau du poste de transmission et correspond à une distance de contrôle désirée. Les signaux de réponse retournés par rapport à un délai d'attente du dispositif sont comparés avec le seuil d'attente. Si le temps écoulé du signal de réponse propagé est inférieur au seuil choisi par l'utilisateur, une impulsion de correction est transmise au collier transpondeur (25) de l'animal.
