Abstract
(EN) This invention relates to generally geosynthetic materials which can be used for earthen reinforcement, and more particularly to a novel geosynthetic material exhibiting less strain under an initial tensile load then presently available geosynthetic materials. The novel geosynthetic material includes a first plurality of spaced-apart generally parallel fiber strands, a second plurality of spaced-apart generally parallel fiber strands positioned adjacent to and forming a plurality of intersections with at least a portion of the first plurality of strands, an organic tying member fixedly connecting portions of fiber strands of the first plurality of fiber strands with intersecting corresponding portions of the second plurality of fiber, and a bonding agent adhering predetermined regions of selected fiber strands of the first plurality of fiber strands with predetermined regions of selected fiber strands of the second plurality of fiber strands, wherein at least a portion of the fiber strands selected from the group consisting of the first plurality of fiber strands, the second plurality of fiber strands and combinations thereof comprise glass fibers. The present invention also relates to a novel geosynthetic composite including the novel geosynthetic material in combination with a second geosynthetic material, e.g. a geotextile fabric or geomembrane. The present invention also relates to a novel reinforced soil composite which includes a soil material in combination with the novel geosynthetic material of the present invention.
(FR) L'invention concerne des matériaux géosynthétiques pouvant être utilisés pour un renforcement en terre, et plus particulièrement un nouveau matériau géosynthétique qui une fois soumis à un effort de traction, présente une déformation inférieure à celle des matériaux géosynthétiques actuellement disponibles. Le matériau géosynthétique de cette invention renferme: une premier ensemble de torons de fibres espacés, généralement parallèles; un second ensemble de torons de fibres espacés, généralement parallèles, placés à proximité d'au moins une partie du premier ensemble de fils, de manière à former des intersections avec celle-ci; un élément de nouage organique reliant fermement des parties desdits torons de fibres et les intersections correspondantes du second ensemble de fibres; et un agent de liaison destiné à faire adhérer des zones prédéterminées de certains torons de fibres du premier ensemble de torons de fibres à des zones prédéterminées de certains torons de fibres du second ensemble de torons de fibres. Ainsi, au moins une partie des torons de fibres choisis dans le groupe composé par le premier ensemble de torons de fibres, le second ensemble de torons de fibres, et des combinaisons de ceux-ci, renferme des fibres de verre. La présente invention concerne également un nouveau composite géosynthétique renfermant le nouveau matériau géosynthétique susmentionné, associé à un second matériau géosynthétique, par exemple un tissu géosynthétique ou une géomembrane. La présente invention concerne enfin un nouveau composite de sol renforcé, renfermant un matériau de sol associé au nouveau matériau géosynthétique susmentionné.
