Abstract
(EN) An apparatus is disclosed for monitoring fetal cerebral oxygenation during childbirth. The apparatus of the present invention includes a tunable source of infrared photons (12), a probe (50) to access a single location on the scalp of a fetus for injecting the infrared photons generated by the photon source, and for receiving scattered photons reflected from within the skull of the fetus. The apparatus at least has first (22) and second (24) dectetors for detecting the presence of photons received through the probe at selected different delay intervals so as to be capable of distinguishing photons reflected from different depths or at different instances from within the head of the fetus.
(FR) L'invention concerne un appareil permettant de surveiller l'oxygénation cérébrale d'un foetus lors de l'accouchement. L'appareil de la présente invention comprend une source réglable de photons infrarouge (12), une sonde (50) permettant d'accéder à un seul emplacement sur le cuir chevelu du foetus en vue de l'injection des photons infrarouge générés par la source de photons et de la réception des photons diffusés réfléchis par l'intérieur du crâne du foetus. L'appareil possède au moins un premier (22) et un second (24) détecteurs servant à détecter la présence de photons reçus par la sonde à différents intervalles de temps choisis, de manière à pouvoir distinguer les photons réfléchis de différentes profondeurs ou en différents sites depuis l'intérieur de la tête du foetus.
