Title: COMPOSITE SYSTEM FOR PROTECTION AGAINST BULLETS AND FRAGMENTS
Abstract:
Prior composite systems used to protect the body or an object against bullets or fragments and comprising a ceramic layer do not absorb projectiles sufficiently in the protecting layers, especially the ceramic layer, at a firing angle is 30° for example. In such cases the bullet, fragments or ceramic splinters frequently exit in a lateral manner, thereby causing injury to the wearer of a protective jacket in unprotected areas of the body. People in the immediate vicinity can also be injured. The ceramic plate in a composite system offering protection against bullets and fragments is provided with beading around the edge in order to avoid this danger. Said beading prevents bullets, bullet fragments or ceramic splinters from exiting in an uncontrolled manner.
