(EN)Provided are an isolated senescence-related nucleic acid molecule encoding a 23 kilodalton polypeptide (p23), methods for expressing the 23 kilodalton polypeptide in cultured cells, recombinant p23 polypeptides, expression vectors and host cells expressing p23, and antibodies against p23. Also provided are methods for using p23 to modulate senescence, and for determining p23 expression in biological samples.
