Abstract
(EN) A hard disk drive assembly for a portable computer includes a conventional small form factor hard disk drive which is mounted in a rigid housing; the housing is mounted to the portable computer chassis. The hard disk drive itself is shock and vibration protected from the housing by a set of thin shock pads of a shock absorbing material such as a viscoelastic polymer. The pads are e.g. 1 or 2 mm thick, typically no nore than 5 mm thick. The pads are each relatively small in surface area and are interposed between all surfaces of the hard disk drive and the opposing surfaces of the housing, thereby suspending the hard disk drive in the housing with shock and vibration protection, without the shock pads themselves occuying a significant volume.
(FR) L'invention concerne un ensemble unité de disque dur pour ordinateur portable comprenant une unité de disque dur classique à encombrement réduit monté dans un logement rigide, le logement étant monté dans le boîtier de l'ordinateur portable. L'unité de disque dur elle-même est protégée contre les chocs et les vibrations provenant du boîtier par une série de plaques anti-chocs minces formées d'une matière d'absorption de chocs telle qu'un polymère viscoélastique. Les plaques ont par exemple 1 ou 2 mm d'épaisseur, et en général, elles n'ont pas plus de 5 mm d'épaisseur. Les plaques possèdent chacune une zone de surface relativement réduite et sont intercalées entre toutes les surfaces de l'unité de disque dur dans le logement, ce qui permet de loger l'unité de disque dur dans le logement doté d'une protection contre les chocs et les vibrations, sans que les plaques anti-chocs elles-mêmes occupent un volume important.
