Abstract:
(EN) A system and method effectively cleans head assemblies and data storage disks without damage. In one embodiment, the system includes a cleaning pad and a head disposed within a disk drive. An actuator is placed in communication with the head such that the actuator can produce two independent movements of the head. One of the independent movements may include reciprocal movement of the head while it is proximate the cleaning pad. Alternatively, or in addition to the reciprocal movement, the actuator may vary the amount of force exerted on the head by the cleaning pad. In an alternative embodiment, a cleaning system for removing contaminants from a removable data storage disk includes a housing adapted to receive the disk and a cleaning pad rotatably mounted within the housing proximate the disk to remove the contaminants from the disk. The system further includes a pad-cleaning component in communication with the cleaning pad such that the contaminants are removed from the pad.
(FR) Cette invention se rapporte à un système et à un procédé permettant un nettoyage efficace et sûr de blocs de têtes de lecture et de disques supports d'informations. Selon une réalisation, ledit système comporte un tampon nettoyeur et une tête disposée à l'intérieur d'une unité de disques. Un actionneur est couplé à la tête de manière à pouvoir produire deux mouvements indépendants de la tête. L'un de ces mouvements peut consister en un mouvement alternatif de la tête lorsque celle-ci se trouve à proximité du tampon nettoyeur. En plus de ce mouvement alternatif, ou à la place de celui-ci, un mouvement de l'actionneur peut être destiné à faire varier l'intensité de la force exercée sur la tête par le tampon nettoyeur. Selon une autre réalisation, un système de nettoyage conçu pour extraire les contaminants d'un disque support d'informations, amovible, comporte un boîtier conçu pour recevoir le disque et un tampon nettoyeur monté à l'intérieur du boîtier, à proximité du disque, et conçu pour extraire les contaminants du disque. Ledit système comporte en outre un composant de nettoyage du tampon, couplé au tampon de façon à extraire du tampon lesdits contaminants.
