Abstract:
(EN) A system for geophysical exploration uses a single source (30) which emits signals over multiple octaves. The source is driven by a composite sweep signal having two or more sweeps, one of which covers the lower octave (10) while the other sweeps cover the remainder of the bandwidth. The signals covering the lower portion are reduced in the case of a sweep which varies linearly with time in proportion to the square root of the ratio of the sweep rate of the signals covering the upper end to the sweep rate of the signals covering the lower end. The signals are transmitted simultaneously. Because of the composite sweep the same energy spectrum is transmistted as with a sine wave sweep which extends over the entire frequency band, while reducing the peak power and radiator displacement required at lower frequencies to maintain a flat spectrum. The size of the equipment can be reduced.
(FR) Ce système de prospection géophysique utilise une source unique (30) émettant des signaux sur plusieurs octaves. Cette source est asservie en fréquence par un signal de balayage composite possédant deux balayages ou plus, l'un couvrant l'octave inférieur (10) et l'autre ce qui reste de la largeur de bande. Les signaux couvrant la partie inférieure se voient réduire dans le cas d'un balayage variant linéairement avec le temps proportionnellement à la racine carrée du rapport: cadence de balayage des signaux couvrant l'extrémité supérieure - cadence de balayage des signaux couvrant l'extrémité inférieure. L'émission de ces signaux est simultanée. En raison de l'existence de ce balayage composite, le même spectre d'énergie est émis comme par un balayage en onde sinusoïdale s'étendant sur toute la bande de fréquence, la puissance de crête et le déplacement de l'élément rayonnant nécessaire à des fréquences inférieures pour conserver un spectre plat étant réduits. Il est possible de diminuer les dimensions de l'équipement.
