Abstract:
(EN) A system for capturing HAPs/VOCs from an existing or planned air stream and destroying the contaminants in the air stream by microbial degradation is disclosed. In general, the system (10) is composed of a housing (14) that contains a rotating drum (12). The drum (12) contains a capture or filtration media (22) through which contaminated air or vapor must pass. HAPs/VOCs in the air or vapors are filtered out and absorbed by the capture media (22). The rotating drum (12) sits in a water bath (142) that is inoculated with microorganisms that are selected to degrade the hazardous materials or pollutants removed by the capture media (22).
(FR) L'invention concerne un système de capture de polluants atmosphériques dangereux/composés organiques volatils dans un courant d'air existant ou créé et de destruction des contaminants dans le courant d'air par dégradation microbienne. En général, le système (10) se compose d'un logement (14) contenant un tambour rotatif (12). Le tambour (12) contient un dispositif de capture ou de filtrage (22) à travers lequel doit passer l'air ou la vapeur contaminés. Les polluants atmosphériques dangereux/composés organiques volatils contenus dans l'air ou les vapeurs sont filtrés et absorbés par le dispositif de capture (22). Le tambour rotatif (12) est disposé dans un bain-marie (142) dans lequel sont inoculés des micro-organismes sélectionnés pour dégrader les matières ou les polluants dangereux éliminés par le dispositif de capture (22).
