Abstract:
(EN) PET foam is processed (24) into flakes. The flakes are densified (26) in a pellet mill at between about 300 °F and about 350 °F to produce pellets. The pellets are then dried (28) in a desiccant dryer at about 350 °F for about 6 hours, so that the dew point of the pellets reaches about - 40 °F. The dried pellets have an intrinsic viscosity about equal to virgin PET and a crystallinity greater than 20 %. This material can be reused (30) as if it were virgin PET.
(FR) Cette invention concerne un procédé de recyclage qui consiste à traiter (24) la mousse de PET de manière à obtenir des flocons. Les flocons sont compactés (26) dans une machine à agglomérer à une température allant environ de 300 à 350° F de manière à produire des pastilles. Ces dernières sont ensuite séchées (28) dans un séchoir à dessiccateur à une température d'environ 350° F et pour une durée d'environ 6 heures, ceci de manière à ce que le point de rosée desdites pastilles soit d'environ -40° F. Les pastilles séchées possèdent une viscosité intrinsèque à peu près égale à celle du PET vierge, et une cristallinité supérieure à 20 %. Ce matériau peut être réutilisé (30) comme s'il s'agissait de PET vierge.
