Abstract:
(EN) The present invention is an optical amplification system for an optical communication system whereby a plurality of gain modules may be pumped by at least one pump source. The system includes a plurality of gain modules (115) which is pumped by one or more pump sources (104, 105, 109, 110). The pump sources preferably include at least one co-pump laser (104, 105) and/or at least one counter-pump laser (109, 110). The pump lasers may be operated in a derated fashion or such that one or more pump lasers serve as backups. Further, the pump lasers may be high powered MOPA or tapered lasers. The optical fiber from the pump lasers may be a multimode fiber for pumping an ytterbium-erbium double clad gain fiber.
(FR) L'invention concerne un système d'amplification optique pour système de communication optique qui permet d'assurer le pompage de plusieurs modules de gain à l'aide d'au moins une source de pompage. Ce système comporte plusieurs modules de gain (115) pompés par une ou plusieurs sources de pompage (104, 105, 109, 110) qui comprennent de préférence au moins un laser de co-pompage (104, 105) et/ou au moins un laser de contre-pompage (109, 110). Les lasers de pompage peuvent fonctionner en mode à réduction de puissance ou en configuration dans laquelle un où plusieurs lasers de pompage tiennent lieu de lasers de réserve. Par ailleurs, les lasers de pompage considérés peuvent être des lasers grande puissance à oscillateur maître avec amplificateur de puissance ou des lasers à transition progressive. Les fibres optiques pompées à partir des lasers de pompage peuvent être du type multimode pour le pompage de fibre à gain double gaine en ytterbium-erbium.
