Abstract:
(EN) A direct sensor interface (DSI) module which allows a microcontroller to directly interface to sensors having at least one of a resitive, capacitive, and/or current source characteristic. The DSI module (10) is coupled directly to a sensor device (12), which could be a reference resistor (12), which generates a sensor current (Is). A current mirroring circuit (24) outputs a charging current proportional to the sensor current (Is). A capacitive sensor (14) and/or a capacitive device is coupled to the current mirroring circuit (24) and generates a voltage when charged by the charging current. Using a comparator (16) and a threshold voltage source (nVREF), the time it takes the capacitive sensor (14) and/or a capacitive device to ramp up from zero to the threshold voltage can be measured. The charging time is proportional to the sensor reading.
(FR) L'invention porte sur un module d'interface directe avec des capteurs (DSI) qui permet à un microcontrôleur d'interfacer directement des capteurs possédant au moins une caractéristique de source résistive, de source capacitive et/ou de source de courant. Le module DSI (10) est couplé directement à un capteur (12) qui pourrait être une résistance étalon (12) et qui génère un courant (Is). Un circuit (24) miroir de courant génère un courant de charge proportionnel au courant (Is) du capteur. Un capteur capacitif (14) et/ou un dispositif capacitif est couplé au circuit (24) miroir de courant et génère une tension lorsqu'il est chargé par le courant de charge. Au moyen d'un comparateur (16) et d'une source de tension de seuil (nVREF), il est possible de mesurer le temps que met le capteur capacitif (14) et/ou un dispositif capacitif pour accélérer la tension de seuil à partir de zéro. Le temps de charge est proportionnel au relevé du capteur.
