(EN)An opto-mechanical device comprises an optically responsive actuating member in which a mechanical strain occurs in response to changes in its illumination. The actuating member is preferably at least partly formed from a semiconducting glassy matrix such as a chalcogenide glass. Preferably the opto-mechanical device includes means to illuminate the actuating member with light which is preferably plane polarised. Preferably it also includes means to vary the polarisation angle of the plane polarised light to cause a change in the strain generated in the actuating member.
(FR)Dispositif opto-mécanique comprenant un élément de commande à sensibilité optique dans lequel apparaît une contrainte mécanique sous l'effet de modifications de son éclairage. Cet élément de commande est, de préférence, au moins partiellement constitué par une matrice vitreuse semi-conductrice, telle qu'un verre de chalcogénure. Ce dispositif opto-mécanique comprend, de préférence, des moyens servant à éclairer l'élément de commande par de la lumière, de préférence, à polarisation rectiligne.
