(EN)A process is provided for reducing the sulfur content of a hydrocarbon stream, wherein a hydrocarbon stream containing sulfur constituents is contacted with a sorbent under temperature and pressure conditions of low severity. The sorbent includes a metal-exchanged zeolite selected from a group consisting of Y zeolites, ultra-stable Y zeolites, and mixtures thereof. A preferred sorbent is a fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) catalyst having a rare earth metal exchanged Y zeolite or ultra-stable Y zeolite. The solvent adsorbs sulfur constituents contained in the hydrocarbon stream upon contact therewith to reduce the sulfur content of the hydrocarbon stream.
(FR)L'invention porte sur un procédé d'abaissement de la teneur en soufre d'hydrocarbures consistant à mettre en contact un courant d'hydrocarbures comportant des éléments soufrés avec un sorbant dans des conditions peu sévères. Ledit sorbant comporte un zéolite à échange de métal choisi parmi les zéolites Y, les zéolites Y ultrastables et leurs mélanges. Le sorbant préféré est un catalyseur de craquage catalytique fluide comportant un zéolite Y à échange de lanthanides ou un zéolite Y ultrastable. Le sorbant absorbe les éléments soufrés présents dans le courant d'hydrocarbures avec lequel il est en contact pour en réduire la teneur en soufre.
