Abstract:
(EN) A method of treating an ion exchange material, the method including: (a) positioning at least two regions of ion exchange material between an anode and cathode electrode, wherein at least a portion of the two regions being in electrical contact and being separated by a non-ion specific permeable interface; (b) supplying water to the at least two regions; (c) applying an electric potential between the electrodes thereby causing generation of hydrogen ions at the anode and hydroxide ions at the cathode, which ions are caused to move through each region towards the oppositely-charged electrode and thereby displacing at least a portion of any anions or cations associated with the ion exchange material in each region such that the displaced anions and cations are also caused to move through the regions towards the oppositely charged electrode; and (d) removing at least some of the cations and/or anions formed during step (c) which reach the interface.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé de traitement d'une matière échangeuse d'ions. Le procédé consiste (a) à placer au moins deux zones de matières échangeuses d'ions entre une anode et une cathode, au moins une partie des deux zones devant être en contact électrique et étant séparée par une interface perméable spécifique non ionisée; (b) à apporter de l'eau à ces deux zones au moins; (c) à appliquer un potentiel électrique entre les électrodes ce qui génère des ions d'hydrogène au niveau de l'anode et des ions hydroxyde au niveau de la cathode, lesdits ions étant amenés à se déplacer à travers chaque zone en direction de l'électrode à charge opposée, ce qui entraîne le déplacement d'au moins une partie des anions ou cations associés à la matière échangeuse d'ions dans chaque zone de façon à ce que les anions et cations déplacés soient aussi amenés à se déplacer à travers les zones en direction de l'électrode à charge opposée et (d) à enlever au moins quelques cations et/ou anions, formés au cours de l'étape (c), et atteignant l'interface.
