Abstract:
(EN) A process for preparing a modified magnesium hydroxide slurry to be used for treating waste water and a method for treating wastewater using a modified magnesium hydroxide slurry containing a high calcium hydroxide content are described. In a typical wastewater treatment system (1), transition or heavy metals are removed via hydroxide precipitation. The waste stream (2) is separated from the return sludge (9), which is discharged as waste sludge (10) for further processing or disposal, and neutralized with an alkali (3) in a neutralization tank (4), in which is immersed pH probe (5). A polymer (6) may be added to the waste stream (2) and the waste stream (2) may be flocculated in a flocculator (11) in order to agglomerate smaller metal hydroxide particles into larger particles for faster settling. The settled metal hydroxide particles are collected at the bottom of a clarifier (7) as waste sludge (10) for further processing or disposal. The clarified filtrate is then properly discharged as effluent (8).
(FR) L'invention porte sur un procédé de préparation de coulis d'hydroxyde de magnésium modifiés servant au traitement des eaux usées, lesdits coulis ayant une forte teneur en hydroxyde de calcium. Dans un exemple de système (1) de traitement des eaux usées, les métaux lourds et de transition sont éliminés par précipitation des hydroxydes. Le courant (2) d'eaux usées, séparé des retour de boues (9) qui, soutirées, constituent des déchets boueux (10) à retraiter ou à évacuer, est neutralisé par un alcali (3) dans une cuve de neutralisation (4) où est immergée une sonde (5) à pH. Le courant d'eaux usées (2) peut recevoir une adjonction de polymère (6), ou être floculé dans un floculateur (11) afin d'agglomérer les plus petite particules d'hydroxydes de métaux pour en former de plus grosses à sédimentation plus rapide qui, recueillies à la base d'un clarificateur (7), constituent des déchets boueux (10) à retraiter ou à évacuer. On élimine ensuite le filtrat clarifié comme effluent (8).
