Abstract:
(EN) A braking system for a wheel (112) of a wheelchair, wheeled walking frame or any other mobile load bearing frame has a brake pad actuating arm (108) which is pivotable about a pivot pin (110) which is at a first fixed reference location with respect to the wheel (112) and a brake pad (114) mounted on the actuating arm for frictionally engaging the wheel. There is a lever arm (116) which is pivotable about a pivot pin (118) which is at a second fixed reference location with respect to the wheel (112). A brake cable means (120) is connected to the lever arm (116) for pivotally moving the lever arm (116) from a first position to a second position where it urges against the actuating arm (108), the cable means (120) being manually operable by brake cable actuating means, such as a handbrake grip lever or touch lever arm operating a solenoid. Operation of the actuating means causes the cable means (120) to pivotally move the lever arm (116) to the second position against the force of a spring (100), whereby the actuating arm (108) is urged to pivotally move so that the brake pad (114) mounted thereon frictionally engages the wheel (112).
(FR) L'invention a pour objet un système de freinage pour une roue (112) d'un fauteuil roulant, d'un déambulateur à roues ou tout au dispositif porteur de charge mobile. Ce système de freinage comprend un bras de commande (108) d'un patin de frein qui peut pivoter autour d'une tige de pivot (110) située en un premier point fixe par rapport à la roue (112) et un patin de frein (114) fixé sur le bras de commande pour se mettre en prise par friction avec la roue. Un bras de levier (116) qui peut pivoter autour d'une tige de pivot (118) est situé en un deuxième point fixe par rapport à la roue (112). Un câble de frein (120) est relié au bras de levier (116) pour déplacer, par pivotement, le bras de levier (116) à partir d'une première position vers une deuxième position dans laquelle il est poussé en force contre le bras de commande (108). Le câble (120) peut être commandé manuellement par un moyen de commande du câble de frein, tel qu'un levier de frein à main ou un bras de leviel actionnant un solénoïde. Le fonctionnement du moyen de commande amène le câble (120) à déplacer par pivotement le bras de levier (116) vers la deuxième position en s'opposant à la force d'un ressort (100). Le bras de commande (108) est ainsi poussé en force pour se déplacer par pivotement de telle sorte que le patin de frein (114) se met en prise par friction avec la roue (112).
