Abstract:
(EN) A system and method complete a telephone call connection using an in-progress Internet connection. A user conducting the Internet session is notified of incoming calls, and may make outgoing calls. A voice gateway at the Internet Service Provider (ISP) handles transfer of telephone call information between a public switched telephone system (PSTN) and an ISP-access connection established by the ISP. In this way, voice is transmitted over the relatively real-time connection between the ISP and the user. Calls to the user are first attempted to be routed to the user, but when the user line is found to be busy, the call is forwarded to the voice gateway. The voice gateway receives the forwarded call, and determines whether the line associated with the forwarded call is conducting an Internet session. If such a connection is established, the voice gateway sends a notification over the Internet connection to the user. The user can then decide how to dispose of the call. If the user decides to take the call, voice information continues to be transferred between the user and the person making the call on the PSTN, using the ISP-access connection.
(FR) L'invention concerne un système et un procédé permettant de réaliser une connexion d'appel téléphonique au moyen d'une connexion Internet en cours. L'utilisateur menant la session Internet est informé des appels entrants et peut lancer des appels sortants. Une passerelle téléphonique, située au niveau d'un fournisseur de services Internet (ISP), effectue le transfert des informations de l'appel téléphonique entre un système téléphonique public commuté (RTPC) et une connexion d'accès ISP établie par ledit fournisseur. De cette manière, les signaux vocaux sont transmis par l'intermédiaire d'une connexion relativement en temps réel entre le fournisseur et l'utilisateur. Les appels destinés à l'utilisateur lui sont acheminés quand cela est possible, mais si la ligne est occupée, l'appel est transféré à la passerelle téléphonique. Celle-ci reçoit l'appel transféré et détermine si la ligne associée audit appel est occupée par une session Internet. Si la connexion est établie, la passerelle envoie une notification à l'utilisateur par l'intermédiaire de la connexion Internet. L'utilisateur peut alors décider de ce qu'il va faire de l'appel. S'il décide de le prendre, les informations vocales continuent à être transférées, par l'intermédiaire de la connexion d'accès ISP, entre l'utilisateur et la personne ayant lancé l'appel sur le RTPC.
