Abstract:
(EN) A non-invasive apparatus and method are disclosed for measuring intracranial pressure. The intracranial measurement system (10) transmits acoustic signals from the transmitters (14, 16) through a cranium, and provides an indication of intracranial pressure based on the receiver (18) acoustic signals after interaction with the brain. Properties such as acoustic transmission impedance, resonant frequency, resonance characteristics, velocity of sound and the like, may be measured and correlated with intracranial pressure. The acoustic signals have typical frequencies of less than 100 kHz, for example, in the audible and sub-audible frequency ranges. The intensity of the transmitted acoustic signals used to determine intracranial pressure is relatively low, resulting in little or no health risks during short term or long term monitoring.
(FR) L'invention porte sur un appareil et un procédé non invasifs de mesure de la tension intracrânienne. Le système de mesure (10) émet des signaux acoustiques traversant le crâne (a) au moyen des émetteurs (14, 16) et fournit une indication de la tension intracrânienne fonction du signal acoustique reçu (18) après interaction avec le cerveau. Des propriétés telles que l'impédance de la transmission acoustique, la fréquence de résonance, les caractéristiques de résonance, la vitesse de son, et autres peuvent se mesurer et être corrélées avec la tension intracrânienne. Les signaux acoustiques présentent par exemple des fréquences caractéristiques de moins de 100 kHz, dans les plages audibles et infrasonores.
