Abstract:
(EN) The present invention provides add-drop multiplexers which are compatible with dense wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) systems having large numbers of optical channels. The add-drop multiplexers employ sets of Bragg gratings separated by an optical isolator to reliably add or drop optical channels without crosstalk. The Bragg grating sets and the optical isolator are interposed between first and second optical couplers. Optical channels to be dropped from a WDM optical signal are reflected by the first set of Bragg gratings and exit the add-drop multiplexer through the first coupler. Optical channels to be added to a WDM optical signal enter the add-drop multiplexer through the second optical coupler.
(FR) Cette invention a trait à des multiplexeurs d'insertion-extraction compatibles avec des systèmes denses de communication optique à multiplexage (MRL) possédant un grand nombre de canaux optiques. Ces multiplexeurs utilisent des jeux de réseaux de Bragg séparés par un isolateur optique afin d'insérer ou d'extraire, de manière fiable, des canaux optiques et ce, sans diaphonie. Les jeux de réseaux Bragg et l'isolateur optique viennent s'intercaler entre un premier et un second coupleur optique. Les canaux optiques à extraire d'un signal optique MRL sont réfléchis par le premier jeu de réseaux de Bragg et quittent le multiplexeur d'insertion-extraction par le premier coupleur. Les canaux optiques à insérer dans le signal optique MRL entrent dans le multiplexeur d'insertion-extraction par le second coupleur optique.
