Abstract:
(EN) A method for heating information storage media so as to enhance their dimensional stability is disclosed. The media are heated to a temperature that meets or exceeds the upper limit of the normal operating temperature of the media. The heating step causes the medium substrate to anisotropically deform to a structure relaxation state. The heating step can occur prior to record circular tracks onto the media, thereby enabling the tracks to remain circular even upon reaching elevated operating temperatures for long periods of time. A disk having such dimensional stability because of the heating step is also disclosed.
(FR) Procédé pour chauffer des supports de données de sorte que leur stabilité dimensionnelle soit augmentée. Les supports sont portés à une température supérieure ou égale à la limite supérieure de la température de fonctionnement normale des supports. La phase de chauffe entraîne la déformation anisotrope du substrat du support de sorte qu'il soit à l'état de relaxation structurale. La phase d chauffe peut survenir avant l'enregistrement de pistes circulaires sur les supports, ce qui permet à ces dernières de rester circulaires même lorsqu'elles atteignent des températures de fonctionnement élevées pendant de longues périodes. Un disque ayant ladite stabilité dimensionnelle résultant de ladite phase de chauffe est également décrit.
