Abstract:
(EN) The subject invention is directed to an olefin polymer produced by polymerizing at least one $g(a)-olefin in the presence of a Group 4 metal complex comprising an indenyl group substituted in the 2 or 3 position with at least one group selected from hydrocarbyl, perfluoro-substituted hydrocarbyl, silyl, germyl and mixtures thereof, said indenyl group further being covalently bonded to the metal by means of a divalent ligand group, wherein the divalent ligand comprises nitrogen or phosphorus having an aliphatic or alicyclic hydrocarby group covalently bonded thereto via a primary or secondary carbon. Preferred olefin polymers of the invention will be characterized as having a high molecular weight, narrow molecular weight distribution, high vinyl content, and a bimodal DSC melting curve or a deconvoluted ATREF or GPC curve which shows at least two distinct narrow peaks. The olefin polymer will have utiliity in a variety of applications, including but not limited to films, fibers, foams, molded parts, and as components of formulations such as adhesives, sealants, coatings, caulks, and asphalt.
(FR) L'invention porte sur un polymère d'oléfine produit par polymérisation d'au moins une oléfine $g(a) en présence d'un complexe de métaux du groupe 4 comportant un groupe indényle substitué en position 2 ou 3 par au moins un groupe sélectionné parmi hydrocarbyle, hydrocarbyle à substitution perfluoro, silyle, germyle et leurs mélanges, ledit groupe indényle étant de plus lié par covalence au métal par un groupe de ligands divalents comprenant un azote ou un phosphore auquel est lié par covalence un groupe hydrocarby aliphatique ou alicyclique lui étant lié par covalence par un carbone primaire ou secondaire. Les polymère d'oléfine préférés de l'invention se caractérisent par leur poids moléculaire élevé, leur faible distribution en poids moléculaire, leur forte teneur en vinyle, et une courbe de fusion DSC bimode ou une courbe ATREF ou GPC déconvoluée présentant au moins deux pics étroits. Les polymère d'oléfine peuvent être utilisés dans une variété d'applications dont notamment des films, des fibres, des mousses, des pièces moulées, ou entrer dans la composition de produits tels que des adhésifs, des mastics, des revêtements, des matériaux d'étanchéité et des asphaltes.
