Abstract
(EN) There is disclosed a method for imaging a quantity of gas present in the atmosphere of a selected area comprising the steps of: directing background infra-red radiation from the selected area into an interferometer; imaging the infra-red radiation emerging from the interferometer onto at least one infra-red detector; obtaining a plurality of Fourier transform infra-red spectra in the 8-14 $g(m)m spectral region, each spectrum corresponding to infra-red radiation collected from a different portion of the selected area; and displaying in a suitable form an infra-red image, said infra-red image comprising the plurality of infra-red spectra, or quantities derived therefrom; in which the temperature of the quantity of gas or ambient temperature is measured, the temperature of the background is measured, and the difference between the two measured temperatures is used to derive gas column densities from said infra-red spectra.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de visualiser une quantité de gaz présente dans l'atmosphère d'une zone déterminée et comprenant les étapes suivantes: acheminement des rayonnements infrarouges naturels émis par la zone sélectionnée pour les faire entrer dans un interféromètre, visualisation des rayonnements infrarouges émis par l'interféromètre sur au moins un détecteur d'infrarouges, obtention d'une pluralité de spectres infrarouges à transformée de Fourier dans l'intervalle spectral compris entre 8 et 14 $g(m)m, chaque spectre correspondant à des rayonnements infrarouges prélevés dans des parties différentes de la zone sélectionnée, et visualisation, sous une forme adéquate, d'une image infrarouge, ladite image comprenant soit les spectres infrarouges dans leur ensemble soit des grandeurs dérivées de ceux-ci. Ce procédé consiste également à mesurer la température extérieure, et à déduire, à l'aide de la différence entre les deux prélèvements, des densités de colonnes de gaz à partir desdits spectres infrarouges.
