Abstract
(EN) A printhead structure (4) for a direct electrostatic printing device selectively conveys a stream of charged toner particles (5) from a particle source (1) directly onto an image receiving substrate (3). The printhead structure includes an electrode plate having openings which surround the apertures. A voltage applied to the electrode plate causes a converging electric field to apply to the toner particles passing through the apertures. The converging electric field causes the toner particles to converge toward respective central axes of the apertures to thereby focus the stream of toner particles. The focusing of the toner particles considerably reduces the dot sizes on the printed image. The use of the printhead structure results in increased print resolution and improved image quality.
(FR) Cette invention concerne une structure de tête d'impression qui est destinée à des dispositifs d'impression électrostatiques directs, et qui assure le transport d'un flux de particules de toner chargées depuis une source de particules directement sur un substrat récepteur d'image. Cette structure de tête d'impression comprend une plaque d'électrode qui possède des ouvertures entourant les orifices. Lorsqu'une tension est appliquée à la plaque d'électrode, un champ électrique convergent est appliqué aux particules qui passent par les orifices. Ce champ électrique convergent va faire converger les particules de toner vers les axes centraux respectifs des orifices de manière à focaliser le flux desdites particules. La focalisation des particules de toner permet de réduire sensiblement la taille des points de l'image imprimée. L'utilisation de cette structure de tête d'impression permet d'améliorer la définition lors de l'impression ainsi que la qualité des images.
