An alignment apparatus for properly positioning flow meter fittings for installation of ultrasonic flow measurement device components in a pipeline section. The apparatus uses an adjustable framework mountable on various diameter pipe sections. The framework supports two traveling guide blocks (203) to each of which a variety of flow meter pipe fittings may be attached. In use, the apparatus is used to position and hold a pair of flow meter pipe fittings in proper relation to each other and the outer surface of the pipe section, and on the same radial of and perpendicular to the axis of the pipe while the fittings are fixed to the surface of the pipe. Additionally, a method of using the device is provided. The combined apparatus and method provide the capability to accurately position fitting nozzles onto various size pipe sections for attaching the nozzles thereto, so that subsequent placement of flow meter components in the accurately positioned fittings optimizes flow meter accuracy.

L'invention se rapporte à un appareil d'alignement, qui sert à positionner de manière adéquate des raccords de tuyauterie pour débitmètre de façon à installer des composants d'un dispositif ultrasonique indicateur de débit sur une section de tuyauterie. Ledit appareil utilise un cadre réglable, qui peut être monté sur des sections de tuyaux de différents diamètres. Le cadre soutient deux blocs de guidage mobiles (203), différents raccords de tuyauterie pour débimètre pouvant être fixés sur chacun d'eux. Lorsque l'appareil est en fonctionnement, il est utilisé pour positionner et maintenir deux raccords de tuyauterie pour débitmètre de façon adéquate l'un par rapport à l'autre et par rapport à la surface extérieure de la section du tuyau et sur la même radiale de l'axe du tuyau et la même perpendiculaire à cet axe, tandis que les raccords sont fixés sur la surface du tuyau. L'invention concerne en outre un procédé d'utilisation dudit dispositif. En combinant l'appareil et le procédé, on peut positionner et fixer avec précision des buses de raccord sur des sections de tuyaux de différentes tailles de façon que la mise en place subséquente des composants indicateurs de débit dans les raccords placés avec précision améliore la précision du débitmètre.
