A semiconducting, cross-linkable and silane-containing polymer composition is disclosed, as is a cable sheathing for an electric cable which, as semiconducting layer, includes the cross-linked polymer composition. The composition is based on ethylene and contains carbon black. Preferably, the polymer is a terpolymer of ethylene, a (meth)acrylate of an alcohol having 1-8 carbon atoms, such as methyl, ethyl or butyl acrylate, and an unsaturated silane compound, such as vinyltrimethoxy silane. The polymer composition is distinguished by the fact that the carbon black has a specific surface area of approximately 30-80 m2/g, which reduces the problems associated with undesirable croos-linking of the polymer composition, for instance in extrusion.

Cette invention concerne une composition polymère semi-conductrice, réticulable et contenant un silane, ainsi qu'une gaine de câble électrique qui comprend cette composition polymère réticulée en qualité de couche semi-conductrice. Cette composition est à base d'éthylène et contient également du noir de carbone. Le polymère consiste de préférence en un terpolymère, lequel se compose d'éthylène, d'un (méth)acrylate d'un alcool comportant de 1 à 8 atomes de carbone tel que de l'acrylate de méthyle, d'éthyle ou de butyle et, enfin, d'un composé de silane insaturé tel qu'un silane de vinyltriméthoxy. Cette composition polymère se caractérise en ce que le noir de carbone possède une surface spécifique d'environ 30 à 80 mm2/g, ce qui permet de limiter les problèmes associés à une réticulation indésirable de la composition polymère comme, par exemple, lors de son extrusion.
