CLAIMS

1. A composition for the treatment of malignancies comprising a relatively high burst dose of at least one cytokine or a functional equivalent or fragment thereof, a source for sustained release of a significantly lower but effective dose of at least one cytokine or a functional equivalent or fragment thereof together with a suitable vehicle for administration.
2. A composition according to claim 1 wherein the source of the lower dose of a cytokine is a gene delivery
vehicle.
3. A composition according to claim 2 wherein the gene delivery vehicle is a recombinant vector.
4. A composition according to claim 3 wherein the vector is a viral vector.
5. A composition according to claim 4 wherein the viral vector is an adenoviral vector.
6. A composition according to anyone of the aforegoing claims wherein the source of the lower dose of a cytokine is a recombinant adenovirus.
7. A composition according to anyone of the aforegoing claims wherein at least one cytokine is interleukin-3 or interleukin- 1 alpha.
8. A composition according to anyone of the aforegoing claims comprising an adjuvans.
9. A composition according to claim 8 wherein the adjuvans comprises inactivated cells.
10. A composition according to claim 9 wherein the inactivated cells are cracked cells.
11. A composition according to claim 9 or 10 wherein the cells are derived from recombinant adenovirus producing cells .
12. A composition according to claim 11 wherein the cells comprise a recombinant adenovirus according to claim 6.

13. A method for the treatment of malignancies comprising contacting said malignancies with a composition according to anyone of claims 1-12.
14. A method according to claim 13 for the treatment of solid tumors.
15. A method according to claim 14 further comprising inactivating treated cells from the solid tumor, mixing them with a suitable adjuvans and administrating said mixture to the mammal from which the tumor cells
originate.
16. A vaccine for the treatment of solid tumors
comprising inactivated autologous tumor cells, xecombinant adenovirus, a cytokine or a functional equivalent or fragment thereof and an adjuvans.
